There is online multiplayer, and it is certainly functional, but very rudimentary. You get your 16-player capture the flag, death match, or team death match, and that is basically it. You can select the map, if weapons are fully upgraded or not, and if the American Forces start by dropping into the battlefield, or if they just spawn in random places around the map. On paper, dropping on rooftops and sniping your friends in a multiplayer match would seem very fun, but not too much care has been given to the multiplayer. It suffers from constan lag, and there is no party system like Call of Duty 4 and Halo. You also cannot botch your landing like in the single player. The animation doesn’t transition before you hit the ground, so you basically just appear. From launch until now, I haven’t seen more than 100 people playing the game at once. At one point I only saw 7 including myself.

War is hell.
Overall, Medal of Honor Airborne is certainly a functional game, but isn’t at all what was promised. Though it looks nice, Visual glitches, superhuman AI, dumb allies, somewhat archaic game play, and lackluster online multiplayer make this game, at the most, a rent. If you are a fan of the series, you can give this game a try, as it is one of the better Medal of Honor titles, but I would rather you pick up Medal of Honor Frontlines for the PS2 and Xbox, or Allied Assault for the PC. They’re just overall better games.
